A business can receive new SOPs, dashboards, technology and team structures and still return to old habits if the owner is not prepared to lead the new system. Handover therefore needs owner readiness as well as technical completion.

Readiness includes role clarity, decision rights, review routines, financial visibility, delegation, escalation discipline and the willingness to stop bypassing agreed processes. The owner should understand which indicators require attention and which decisions should remain with operating managers.

Transfer capability, not dependency

A transformation project succeeds when the owner and management team can run the system without permanent dependence on the transformation team.
